Loneliness is debilitating, it is a feeling or a response to a sense of isolation.
We can’t control our feelings, they just happen inside of us. It’s when we allow them to master us, that we become a slave to the pain they cause.
Being alone is powerful. It means having no-one else present.
Synonyms for alone are: only, solely, uniquely and exclusively.
Being alone gives you time to be open to what is around you, or within you without interference or interruption.
Feeling lonely is not the same as being alone.
A person has a choice to be alone. A time when they choose to be alone.
Loneliness in contrast is the feeling of sadness brought on by the thought of being alone.
Change your view of what being alone is. Make it powerful, make it a choice.
It’s true, we often feel lonely when we are alone.
But what if you recognized the feeling of sadness when it arose and if you happen to be alone when it happens, remember the difference between the two and make a choice to take strength from being alone.
In that moment, just be aware of the feeling, what you feel and how you feel. Once you identify the feeling of loneliness…you can say: “Aahh, hello loneliness”…notice how the loneliness will drop or fade away (even if it’s for that tiny moment).
We are never all alone, we have friends and family and pets and people.
Don’t allow the feeling of loneliness to overpower the strength of being alone.
