Slow Down

By Nicolle Kopping-Pavars, Barrister, Solicitor, and Mindfulness Teacher.

There is a beautiful book called The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down by Haemin Sunim.

In this book there is a line that says “The world has never complained about how busy it is”.

Very often we actually enjoy being busy, we don’t like being bored, our mind doesn’t do well when its not busy. It feels frustrated and then we need to do something to fill the space of boredom. The world (and our own life) is experienced according to the state of one’s mind. When your mind is filled with negative thoughts, the world appears negative too. When you feel overwhelmed and busy, the world seems to be in such a rush, our lives appear to be chaotic. If you can notice the state of your mind at any given time, that small pause of recognition gives you power. When your mind rests, the world rests too.
